When you hear the term organic clothing, you don’t usually associate it with trendy, fashionable clothing. Instead, what comes to mind are unattractive, scratchy burlap sacks worn by granola loving hippies. Well, ladies and gentlemen, this is certainly not the case anymore. One look at GGO Clothing and you will become an organic clothing fan!
Using amazing-feeling organic bamboo, organic cotton and hemp, GGO has taken a sustainable approach to fashion and are driven by authenticity, a simple, comfortable yoga aesthetic, and kindness to our planet. Their awesome collection of ready-to-wear and yoga clothing is extremely versatile and will help you look and feel great in all aspects of your life while reducing your carbon footprint!
Founder of GGO, Steve Sas Schwartz, and his wife, Vivica, are both deeply committed to creating a product line that is best in class both in terms of use and commitment to the environment.
Instead of using fabric available to everyone, they chose to push their suppliers to develop textiles that possess superior comfort, performance, and are as green as possible. The results are unique fabrics that are delicious to touch, wear beautifully, and are extremely durable. GGO mills their own fabric from the yarn itself in Los Angeles (where they are headquartered) and use eco-friendly low impact dyes. Plus, everything is sewn locally. This allows for each garment to be expertly tailored while helping to sustain our local communities.
Even more amazing is that they develop a fine quality polyester fabric out of recycled plastic bottles. Who knew that you could create beautiful, high-quality clothing from plastic bottles?! In a nutshell, the process of turning a plastic bottle into fabric goes a little something like this: Plastic bottles are gathered, compressed, baled, and shipped to processing facilities where they are shaved into flakes, then melted into small white pellets. These pellets are then reduced again, and spun through shower-like nozzles into a viscose fibrous yarn.
Rather than have bottles clutter and damage our oceans and land, GGO re-purposes these items and transforms them into practical garments that will make you look and feel good with the added bonus of doing good for the planet. This is a win-win situation for the environment and their ecologically advanced apparel. GGO combines these fine threads with bamboo and recycled cotton to make stripes and solids for their whisper thin tee fabrics. And you won’t believe the hand: sheer yumminess!
Organic clothing has come a long way since its beginnings. It used to be a big challenge trying to find clothing that are both stylish and sustainable, but companies like GGO clothing have made it so much easier! Choosing organic clothing not only does a lot for the environment, but is also good for your personal health since normal cotton clothing retains harmful chemical residues. This can cause rashes or other skin conditions, especially if you have sensitive skin. You won’t have to worry about this with organic clothing since the fabric is made from fibers that were grown or raised without herbicides, pesticides or other chemicals. If you haven’t tried out organic clothing yet, now is the time. The organic clothing movement is even more vital today with the scary reality of global warming and climate change looming over us. Let’s all do our part so we can enjoy all that mother nature has to offer us and to preserve the planet for future generations to enjoy.
